Counterlens

Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-08-02 · applies to the Counterlens iOS app

Counterlens collects no data. None. There is no server, no account, no analytics, no advertising, and the app makes zero network requests.

What the app does

Counterlens passively listens to Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements that nearby devices broadcast publicly, and compares them on your device against a built-in signature database to identify camera-capable wearables. It never connects to, pairs with, or transmits to any device.

What stays on your device

Nothing above ever leaves your iPhone. Counterlens has no way to send it anywhere: the app contains no networking code.

What the app never touches

People, not just policies

Counterlens identifies devices, never people. It cannot determine who is wearing or carrying a device, and it presents every detection as advisory information, not proof.

Notifications

If you enable background alerts, notifications are generated locally on your device by iOS. There is no push server.

Changes

If a future version ever changes any of the above (for example, an optional signature-database update check), this policy will say so plainly before that version ships, and any such feature will be off by default.
